My Lilacs

They Bloom late February and Don't last long

Those of you that have them and live in colder climates

will notice they aren't the big green bushes you have.

But they bloom for me here in the Desert

I have quite the story behind these lilacs.

I mailed them here from New York

They were just little bitty shoots.

They came from a friends yard

who got them from my childhood yard.

So for me they are very special.

 

We get overnight freezing temps a few times during the winter.

My awesome hubby goes out and floods my lilacs for me on those nights.

They get the cold for a little bit.

 

Plus I get a bonus sometime in September

They get a few blooms, just little tufts

Just enough to smell them again.
